Lovells Garage was started in 1920 by Mr C Lovell in Jesu
Street assembling and repairing bicycles. He then moved to Broad Street
(now Hill's Estate Agents) in 1925 and expanded into Cars and
Motorbikes. The Ford Agency being added in 1929.
During
the 40's, 50's and 60's the Garage sold everything from records, toys,
prams and white goods, but with talk of a law to prevent selling petrol
across the pavement the garage moved to the back of Broad Street to
Brook Street which is its present site now. It now specialises in New and Used Cars and Light Commercial vehicles. We also undertake bodywork in our body shop which is equipped with a low bake oven.The Forecourt has attended service, always pleased to check your oil, tyres etc. |
